The author of the article argues that with the advent of new technologies, people were able to interact all over the world also helps them to find their voice, and allows them to speak confidently, the lecture disputes the claims mentioned in the article.
Firstly, the reading suggests that social media has become a great platform to master any kind of skill. Social media helps people to interact all over the world and were able to find friends who share the same kind of knowledge, passion, and interests. Regardless, the lecture state how social media and the internet can be used to steal people or bully them.
According to the lecture, people in 1985 have smaller networks compared to 2004 which is doubled, this is because of social media, people have lacking social skills, and do not spend much time with their families. This lecture suggests that relying on the internet, causes people to be isolated. The overall lecture suggests that social networking has too many risks.
Finally, the author puts forth the idea that social media is a great source of information, these technologies allow people to interact all over the world now able to build relationships in a way that was formerly not possible. In contrast, the lecture’s stance is social media involve too many risks not only to adults but also to children.
