Reading and lecture talks about the Auten it of a painting
depicted famous English novelists Jane Austen. Reading argues that there are reasons to believe that character painted in painter was her,while lecture thinks that those reasons are not logical.
First, reading states that Austen family after her death allowed to exhibit her picture
coupled with her letters. Lecture casts doubt on this statement made in the reading. In contrast,
he put forth the fact that letters were given in 1882, that was about seventy years after she died. So there might be strong chances that painter might not have seen her.
Second, reading posits another reason to witness her painting by explaining the similarity in the sketch of
Cassandra painting. In addition, reading says that even if painting by Cassandra when Austen was adult, the nose structure,
shape of face and other characteristics are analogous. While, lecture denies by saying that many of her cousins, girls, daughters in family possessed some similar features. Furthermore, he refutes that Mary one of her niece was the character in that painting.
Third, reading claims painting was created when Austen was teenager that even if painting is without any proof. Due to the fact that Humprey was a painter appointed by affluent family when was young. In contrary professor thinks that original painting was formed on canvas and Austen was probably twenty seven years older when the canvas base was invented. As a consequence, lecture successfully refutes the comments made in reading.
