The professor opposes this point by exaplaining that the Greeks did not have to use a large sheet of copper to make mirror. Second, the article avers that the burning mirror would hvae taken so long to set the ships on fire, so such as weapon would be ineffective and imptractical. The professor disagrees with point by saying that if the burining mirror would have to set the fire on woods of the ships, its goining to take 10 minutes. On ther hand, there are other materials that ships made from them, for example pitches. Therefore, the professor concludes burining mirror could be an effective weapon that could spread fire on ships bdue to these pitches.
Third, the reading posits that a burining mirror does not seem like a improvement on a weapon that the Greeks already had, such as flaming arrows. The professor, however, refutes this point by saying that the Roman army had the experience and knowledge to deal with these flaming arrows, in addition to, they could see them from a long distance. But, by using mirror burning, they would not able to figure out where is the exact location that the fires came, And consequently, the Greeks could suprise their enemy much more by using this effective weapon.
