The reading and lecture both discuss the causes of Little Ice Age. While the reading provodes three explanations to support the causes of Litte Ice Age, the professor refutes, saying none of these are convincing.
Firstly, the article states that disruption of ocean curents due to the earth's warm climte caused the Ice age. On the other hand, the professor rejects this notion by saying that this ocean curents caused cooling effect at North America, but we could not explain the effect at other areas like Neitherland and Africa.
In addition, the reading shows that the volcanic disruption provides the air with a lot of dust that blocked the sunlight and cause cooling effect. However, the professor contradicts this point by explaining that volcanos could produce enough dust that make cooling effect. In addition, dust produce effect on vision too. For instance, colorful sunlight and gray or brown dust. However, we could not find and reports about these effects. So, the volcanic eruption was not strong enough to produce dust that could make cooling effect.
Lastly, the article avers that the dcrease in human population casused increase in the forest area due to less of agriculture. As a result, decrease the effect of green house. Nevertheless, the professor questions this idea by pointing out that stopping the green house effect was not enough time to work. This is becasue the forest soon cutdown again to give chance to crops to grow. Furthermore, the forest will not stay long enough to make global cooling.
