Nowadays, the definition and the causes of lazy journalism, which was always debatable, has become controversial. It is strongly agreed upon the fact that lazy journalism is defined as brainless journalists coping and pasting unverified fake news. However, there are always some contention about it. In the following essay, I will elaborate on why lazy journalism is defined as irresponsible journalists coping and pasting and its cause before leading to a conclusion.

To begin with, there are numerous reasons why journalism is defined as such, but the most obvious one lies in the essence of journalism. As it is journalists’ duty to investigate, undercover and report the truth, lazy journalists go for the opposite and jump to the conclusion by using biased materials. For instance, during Hilary’s campaign for the president, fake news was spread all over the place on internet because of lazy journalism. Hence, lazy journalism is defined as such.

Furthermore, another predominant reason for this problem of lazy journalism is caused by the work stress from editors as they often set up difficult goals to those instead of focusing on the quality of them. According to the United Nations, it was reported that nearly 40% of editors have acknowledged they have published lazy journalism to finish their tasks. Therefore, the work stress of the editors was another major reason for lazy journalism.

In conclusion, lazy journalism stands for biased journalists who constantly use unfair and inaccurate materials in order to complete their work in time or for their own benefits. Editors and higher authorities should take charge of this phenomenon and make sure the truths are reported to the public.
