Studying art in school improves students' performance in other subjects, because it is easier for multi-skilled students to learn new things. That's why art should be obligatory in schools.
Do you agree or disagree?

Art is considered an important part of school curriculum as it helps students in performing better. In my opinion, I agree that multi-talented students acquire new things with much ease. However, it can be achieved in different ways. Hence, I disagree that arts ought to be made compulsory in schools.

To begin with, not all children are interested in arts and therefore by making it compulsory, school would be wasting precious resources. In other words, each student has different area of interest. Forcing them to study one particular course will result in waste of their time and teacher's efforts. As a consequence, they will not learn anything. Instead, they should be allowed to focus on the subject they are passionate about which would yield better results. For instance, a child more interested in story telling should be taught about it as he can become competent writer later in life.

Children should learn a range of skills as it assist them in acquiring other thing faster. However, arts is not the only way through which it be attained. Arts definitely is one of one way and therefore children who are keen to learn arts should definitely opt for it in school. Other way through which children can be become multi-skilled is sports. Students who play sports learn about competition, cooperation, importance of winning and how to handle loss. All these qualities play a significant role in developing varied skills in children. Hence, arts is not the only medium through which children acquire different skills.

To conclude, although efforts ought to be made to make students learn multiple skills, arts is not the only way to achieve that. Children should be allowed to learn about multi-skills through the subject they are interested in such as sports.
