Essay topics:

The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by local authorities in Someland in 1980, 1990 and 2000.

The presented pie charts depict information about changes in the shares six different government agencies which comprised the yearly expenses in Someland over the three separate years.

At first glance, it is immediately obvious that while the shares of three items experienced rises, there were declines in the remaining three. Moreover, higher education costs contributed the largest proportion of expenditure throughout the survey, whereas environmental services and other activities had the smallest share.

When observing data in more detail, money spend on higher education accounted for the most significant proportion of expenditure in 1980 with standing at 35% and went up by just under a half before declining slightly to the point of two-fifths. In comparison, the charges of K-12 education were responsible for a quarter of all expenses in 1980, but this share dipped substantially by 18% over the course of these 20 years.

The share of health and human resources was initially as high as that of transportation with standing at 14% and 16%, respectively, but while the former increased by a fifth before dropping double, the latter witnessed a marked rise after which it decreased, reaching 10%. The contribution of environmental services had increased minimally from 4% to 5% and reached 9% in 2000, however, the reverse trend was true for remained services which declined from 6% to 1%.
