The table compares three main airports in the UK in terms of the number of customers who use airline services from 1998 to 2003.
Overall, the quantity of people choosing plane was the main transport for moving had a tendency to increase over a period of 6 years. Meanwhile, Gatwick gained more preference of visitors for the purpose of traveling compared to other airports.
In the first 3 years from 1998 to 2000, there was a significant growth in the number of airport visitors. Heathrow airport attracted 27.2 million travelers in 1998 and this figure rose sharply, reaching a peak at 48.2 units at the end of the period. The figure for Gatwick airport was 36.5 and 44.4 million traveler, respectively. Off the 3 examined subjects, the airport called Stansted experienced the most impressive growth rate, from 17.3 billion visitors in 1998 to nearly 2.5 times as much as the number recorded in 2 years later.
Between 2001 and 2003, the upward trend in the number of airport travelers was only true for Gatwick. It witnessed the continuous increase in the visitor database, from 47.3 million travelers in 2001 to 51.1 units and ultimately reaching a peak at 69.3 units in the last year. As for Heathrow airport, the figure fluctuated with a relative decline in 2001-2002 period before rising at 45.6 units in 2003. In contrast, in 3 shown years, the number of people using Stansted's airline services remained intact, at the threshold of 43.3 million travelers per year.
