The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australia cities.
The provided bar chart presents data on the findings of a questionnaire on how people consume coffee and tea, with five Australian cities being listed, namely Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart.
Overall, except for Adelaide, going to a café was by far the most common, the second most common was buying instant coffee, and the least frequent was buying fresh coffee.
In terms of Sydney and Melbourne, the proportion of individuals going to a café for coffee or tea is both remarkably high, at over 60% and 65%, respectively. At the same time, the number of people buying fresh coffee in Melbourne made up roughly half of those who went to a cafe in Melbourne, however, the proportion of those opting to purchase instant coffee in the last 4 weeks remained higher, with 48%. Approximately 46% of Sydney residents chose to buy instant coffee, compared to 44% who bought fresh coffee.
Shifting the focus to the remaining countries, the percentage of buying fresh coffee in Brisbane and Adelaide was roughly the same, at 34%, while in Hobart, the figure occupied 38%. The number of people going to a café in Brisbane accounted for 56%, making it slower than Hobart's, with 63%. Around 52.5% of Australians in Brisbane bought instant coffee, whereas Hobart was slightly higher, with 54%. Notably, the proportion of people choosing between buying instant coffee and going to a cafe was nearly equal at 50%.
