The argument that motorcycle X has been duplicated by some foreign company and the company has failed to attract customers citing the reason that this product lacks the exceptionally loud noise made by motorcycle X, omits some important concerns that must be addressed to substantiate the argument. The statement that follows the reason behind lacks of sales simply considers the noise the vehicle makes. This alone does not constitute a logical argument and certainly does not provide support or proof of the main argument.

Firstly, as motorcycle X has been manufactured in United States for over 70 years makes it a fact that no company can easily replace the local company. Even if the sales of local company decreases, it is not possible for any company to leverage this situation to increase its sales.

Secondly, it is possible that people prefer local products over foreign products. Patriotism in people might not allow them to buy foreign goods over local goods as this would adversely affect the country's economy.

Further, some products are considered premium or giffen products. In contrast to actual demand curve,in which the demand for products increases with the decrease in product's price, demand for these products might decrease with decrease in the product's price. Therefore, this might be the reason for lack of sales of motorcycle manufactured by foreign company despite decreasing the price of motorcycle.

Moreover, the loud noise the motorcycle makes might not be the only reason for people not opting to buy motorcycle manufactured by foreign company. It is possible that the body and the overall design of the motorcycle is difficult to duplicate. So, despite the foreign company putting efforts to copy the motorcycle design has failed to replicate the exact product. As a result their sales did not increase.

Because the argument leaves out several key issues, it is not sound or persuasive. If it included the items discussed above instead of solely considering the noise the motorcycle makes, the argument would have been more thorough and convincing.
