Given is the table comparing data about the means of traveling in 1985, to the same information recorded in 2000 in England.
To begin with, according to the table from 1985 to 2000, walking, riding bicycles and traveling via local buses lost popularity. To be more precise, local buses showed the biggest downward trend in popularity, as their usage nearly halved dropping from 429miles to 274miles. It can also be noted that, cycling and walking distances went down by 10miles and 18 miles respectively.
According to the table chart, on the contrary, distances traveled by cars, long distance buses, trains, taxis and other modes of travel experiences rise in 5 year’s period. To provide more detailed information, it can be said that, the greatest increase belonged to cars, as the amount of miles travelled by cars climbed from 3199 to 4806. Average distances travelled via long distance buses, trains, taxis and other means of transport went up by 70miles, 77miles, 29miles and 135miles accordingly.
To sum it up, taking all the described information into account, it can be concluded, overall amount of travelled distance increased during given time span.
