The table below shows the consumer durables (telephone, refrigerator, etc) owned in Britain from 1972 to 1983.

The given table provides information regarding the changes in percentage of electronic items owned by Britons between 1972 and 1983.

It is clear seen from the table that the ownership of all consumer durables increased over the periods, in particular for owning telephone. However, the demand for dishwasher was the lowest.

A more detailed look from table reveals that more or less all households in Britain had television in 1972 (93%), and the ownership of that item rose to 98% in 1983. The other favourite electronic items were refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, and washing machine which reached above 80% in 1983. Standing in contrast, there were far few citizens in Britain who owned dishwasher, emerging 3% in 1978 and only reaching 5% in 1983.

It is interesting to see that there was a highest growth in telephone ownership in the end of period, which increased almost double than its percentage in 1972 (from 42% to 77%). It is similar with central heating which got considerably more popular. Finally, it is worth noting that video started to be owned by households in Britain in 1983 and the percentage reached 18%.
