The first line chart informs the marriages and divorces rates in United State of America over the period of 1970 and 2000. The second chart shows the marital status of adult American in the same period.

The first graph shows that the marriage rates in US decreased in the last two years of period displayed while the divorce rate was fluctuated. The second graph shows that people who were married and widowed decreased in number in 2000 but the never married rate and divorced rate increased.

Since 1990, the marriages number in US fell from 2.5 millions of people in 1970 and 1980 into 2.3 millions in 1990. However after significant rise of divorced number in 1980, the figure went down into 1 millions in 2000.

Based on the marital status chart, the significant drop happened to married status. It fell from 70 % into 59 % in 2000. In addition, the significant rise was experienced by never married status which increased into 5 % in 2000.
