The given bar chart indicates how many books the Lammertown Public Library lent to readers over a decade from 1991 to 2001 whilst the pie graph illustrates the proportion of the Library’s membership based on gender in 2010.

Overall, the number of books borrowed in this course of time experienced remarkable differences amongst various genres of books. Meanwhile, many more men registered for their membership of the Library compared to women.

It is evident from the bar chart that Self-improvement, Romance, and Thriller were the types of books whose customers grew significantly throughout this period. Most noticeably, Romance books held the highest position from 1991 to 2001 with 1000 and 1400 books, respectively. In addition, self-improvement books saw a drastically 5-fold increase in figure, at around 1000 books. Meanwhile, Thriller books rose subtly, by 200 books from over 600 books in 2001. This was the same for Language books, which not only slightly increased by roughly 100 books but the least preferred one, compared to the rest types of books. On the other hand, the number of male members in 2010 demonstrated in the pie chart, accounted for over 68% whilst figure for female members was nearly a third.

However, Crime novels, Children’s fiction and Autobiographies witnessed a significant dwindle in their figures. Both Crime novels and Children’s fiction declined twice in the number of borrowed books, with about 250 and 370 books in 2001 respectively. Exceptionally, Autobiographies remained static during this time, constituted under 400 books.
