The bar graph presents the amount of time the school teachers of four countries taught to three different sections a year in2001.
Overall, the teachers in every country spent more time in teaching for upper secondary students. The USA witnessed the highest teaching hours, while the teachers of Japan and Spain spent relatively similar number of hours for primary and lower secondary classes.
All four countries focused more on their eldest students, with the lowest of 700 hours in Japan to the highest of just under 1200 hours in the USA, while around 900 hours were spent on this division both in Spain and Iceland. The teaching hours are markedly higher in America, with 1000 hours for the lower secondary classes and about 750 hours for the primary grades, compared to 600 hours and just below 600 hours for these two divisions respectively in Iceland, where the lowest amount of time was given for these sections.
In terms of two lower sections, Japan and Spain demonstrated relatively similar patterns. While the primary classes were taught for 600 hours a year in Japan, Spanish primary students were taught around 650 hours. Similarly, for lower secondary classes, about 650 hours and roughly 750 hours were scheduled in Japan and Spain respectively.
