Car ownership
The line graph shows the percentage of people who own cars in Britain between 1971 and 2007.
It is clear that the proportion of population who have one car and three or more cars stabilized over the period shown. The rate of people who have no car decrease significantly, but the percentage of two cars ownership increased rapidly from 1971 to 2007.
In 1971, the proportion of people who have two cars was about 8%, the figures for no car and one car ownership was much higher, at about 49% and 45% respectively. The percentage of population who own three or more cars was lowest, at about 1%.
In 2007, the proportion of three or more cars ownership rose slightly to about 7%, when the rate of people who own two cars rose rapidly to about 26%. The percentage of population who do not have any car decreased sharply to around 25%.
