The chart below show the expenditure of two countries on consumer goods in 2010

The bar chart compares the amount of money spent on five consumer goods (cars, computers, books, perfume and cameras) in France and the UK in 2010. Units are measured in pounds sterling.

Looking at the chart, it is clear that the UK spent more money on consumer goods than France. Both the British and the French spent most of their money on cars, whereas the least amount of money was spent on perfume in France compared to cameras in the UK. Overall, the most significant difference in expenditure between the two countries was on cameras.

In terms of cars, the UK spent about 450000 pounds on this, while the figure for France was slightly lower, at 400000 pounds. Similarly, the British spent more money on books than the French (about 400000 and 300000 pounds respectively). In the UK, expenditure on cameras (just over 350000 pounds) was double that of in France (about 150000 pounds).

On the other hand, France spent more money on the remaining goods than the UK. Above 350000 pounds was spent by the French on computers, which was modestly more than the British who spent exactly 350000 pounds. Neither of the two countries spent more money on perfume, which made up about 200000 pounds in France, but under 150000 pounds in the UK.
