The bar chart compares percentage change in average accommodation prices in five various cities over a period of 12 years compared with average house prices in 1989.
It is clear that London experienced dramatical increase in average house prices in these years. It is also noticeable that the majority of these five cities rose their average accommodation prices.
Looking at the information in more detail, we can see that New York citizens purchased houses in 1990-1995 by 5% less than in 1989. Furthermore, average prices of houses decreased by 7.5% compared with 1989, also the same pattern can be seen in Tokyo. By contrast, population of Madrid bought houses about 2% more than in 1989, while the percentage of average house prices in Frankfurt just above the 2%.
It can also be seen that the figure for average house prices in London saw an significant increase in 1996-2002, at 19.5%. However,the proportion of average accommodation prices rose by approximately 10% in 1996-2002 compared with 1990-1995, while this figure increased slightly in Tokyo, at 2.5%. Moreover, the percentage of average house prices remained relatively stable in Frankfurt in 1996-2002, whereas in Madrid households purchased houses by 4% in 1996-2002 more than in 1989.
