The chart below shows the numbers of male and female research students studying six science-related subjects at a UK university in 2009.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant.

Depicted on the bar graph are data about the figures for research students enrolling in six science-related disciplines at a British institution by gender nine years after the millennium.

A pattern plainly in evidence is that taking these science courses was noticeably more prevalent for men, albeit by varying degrees, except for Veterinary medicine.

There was a lopsided disparity between the numbers of male and female students engaging in Physics, Astronomy, and Geology. The gender gap was particularly large in Physics which was pursued by more than 200 males against only 40 females. The same tendency was observed in the case of the other two disciplines as the numbers of male scholars tripled and doubled that of female ones in Astronomy and Geology, respectively.

Men and women were more equally represented in health-related subjects: Biology, Medicine and Veterinary medicine. In Biology, there were slightly fewer women (about 200) than men (about 230). This was also true for Medicine as 180 women and 200 men enrolled in the discipline. Going against the general pattern, Veterinary was the only course where women vaguely outnumbered men (roughly 110 women vs. 90 men).
