The chart below shows the percentage of population in these three diferent age groups in Japan
The line graph depicts the proportion of residents belonging to three different age groups in Japan over a period of 80 years starting from 1960.
Overall, immatures account for the highest percentage among them, which is far more higher than the remaining two groups throughout this period. Besides this, elderly though had the smallest figure in terms of quantity, they are clearly showing a constant increase even in the future.
Starting at roughly 65 percent in 1960, the people aged 14 below mainly remained unchanged until 2000. A decrease can be witnessed in the number of inhabitants aged from 15 to 64 years old, which account for 10 percent in 2000, while an opposite trend is true in elderly with a gradual climb and gain of about 25% in the same year.
From 2000 onwards, the proportion of younger people tends to slightly plummet though it is still expected to get the highest rate in all groups. Meanwhile, the oldest residents group surpassed the working age group and will continue their climbing to just above 30 percent in 2040 as a prediction.
