The figure then plummeted to 4% in the year 2000, followed by a six-year period of stability. However, the unemployment rate of Ireland increased to nearly 6% in the final year.</p><p data-adtags-visited="true" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-family: Alegreya, serif; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 27px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; border: 0px; outline: 0px; color: rgb(102, 102, 102); white-space: normal;">Starting with 60000 leavers in 1988, this number fell to approximately 55000 in 1990 before plunging to over 30000 after two years. The number of Ireland’s emigrants continued to go down to around 27000 for the next 12 years, and suddenly surged to 50000 in the year 2008.</p>
