The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010.

These two pie charts illustrate the percentages of British students at one university who can speak foreign languages in 2000 and 2010.

Overall, Spanish is a foreign language that most students learned in both years 2000 and 2010. The most significant change was students tried to learn a foreign language increased rapidly. The proportion of students who learned German remained the same at 10%.

Spanish was the most popular for students to learn as a second language in 2000 and 2010 and the numbers of students who learned this language went up slightly from 30% in 2000 to 35% in 2010. There is an increase in 5% of both the numbers of students who wanted to learn a foreign other than French, German and Spanish, and the number of students who learned two more languages.

On the other hand, the popularity of French decreased a little from 15% in 200 and 10% in 2010. In addition, there is a dramatic change in the percentage of students who decided to learn a second language which doubled the figure.
