The charts summarise the weight measurements of people living in Charlestown in 1955 and 2015 Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant
The given bar charts compare the weight measurements across all the age-groups in Charlestown over a period of 60 years from 1955 to 2015.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that over the period as a whole, the percentage of obese and overweight surpassed the ideal and underweight. However, the majority of the ideal people were reported in the youngest group throughout the period.
According to the given illustration, whilst below 10% of obese were noticed in 1955 between the ages 40 to 69, the same went up dramatically to 60% in 60 to 69 group, 50%(50-59), a quarter in 40 to 49, 10%(30-39), and just 1% in 20-29 age-group. Further, at the most 1 in every 5 people were overweight in all the groups except only 1% in 20 to 29 age-group. However, with the passing years, age-groups 30-39, 40-49, and 60-69 grew rapidly close to 35% for the overweight category as against just 8%in the other two groups each.
Moreover, in the case of ideal and underweight people, whereas the latter witnessed a sharp plunge by 15% before acquiring the least of 1% for 30 to 59 age-groups, the former plummeted down by nearly 20% in the same age window. On the contrary, despite ideal and underweight fell below 5% and 10% in the aged category, the ideal group stayed stable at 70%, while the underweight observed a decline of 10% in the youngest group.
