Comparison of car theft

This line graph shows car theft incidents from 1990 to 1999 in four countries per thousand. Overall, we can see that car thefts are much higher in Britain compared to the other countries.

The Car thefts in Great Britain were around 18 per thousand in 1990, where it started to increase until 1992. There is a slight decrease in 1992 for one year where it started again and made its peak in 1996 around 20 theft incidents. From that point there is a steady decrease to 18 again.

On the other hand, car thefts, in France and Canada followed quite a similar trend. In both countries the thefts were around 9 in 1990 and begun to decline for three years to a number of 6 per thousand. From this point the thefts in Canada increased steady but slightly for 6 years and ended with 7 thefts per thousand, whereas the thefts in France showed a more fluctuating trend but also ended around 7.

Finally the car thefts in Sweden showed a consistent increase in throughout the whole timescale, started from 8 per thousand and ended 14 per thousand except for 2 years from 1996 to 1998 where it stayed steady around 10 per thousand
