The picture illustrates the way in which storm water is recycled in an Australian city.
Overall, it is cleared that there are five distinct stages in this process, beginning with rooftop rain water harvesting and ending up with recycled water for usage.
In each stage, different works must be done. First of all, water from rains is collected and then through drains to a water recycling plant. Here, we removed 4 types of things from storm water in four different phases, which are large wastes such as plastic or rubbish in the first phase, small particles, bacteria, viruses in the second and third phases. Finally, molecules and salt is filtered out in the last phase.
Next, a little amount of chlorine, about 4 mg/l, is added to the liquid before it is stored in a chamber. The process ends when the water, now safe for domestic use, is sent back to Australian households and reused on sunny days.
