The process illustrates the various stages involved in the manufacture of chocolate.
As can be seen in the diagram, there are 10 main steps, beginning with the growth of cacao trees in some areas. The chocolate production is finished with liquid chocolate being made.
Looking at the first stage, cacao trees are planted in South America, Africa, and Indonesia. When the trees are fully grown, the white pod-shaped cacao fruits are harvested in order to collect the cocoa beans inside. After being fermented and naturally dehydrated by sunlight, the beans are packed into large sacks and delivered to factories by train or lorry.
In the next stage, the cocoa beans are roasted at a temperature of 350 degrees Celsius at the factory. After thermal processing, the outer shells and inner parts are separated by a crushing machine. At the final stage of the process, the inner parts are pressed by a machine to manufacture liquid chocolate.
