Garlsdon town
The picture compares two proposed positions, namely S1 and S2 for a new supermarket in Garlsdon Town, whose population is 65000.
It is clear that the main difference between the two sites is that S1 is located in the outskirts, whereas S2 is in the heart of the town. Obviously, each location has its own advantages and drawbacks.
Looking at the information for more detail, located in the town center enable S2 to attract all customers from the surrounding residential area. S1 is also close to the housing area, but located in the north west to the center makes it would be more difficult to reach from the east of the housing area.
There are three main roads from the town centre to Hindon, Bransdon and Cransdon with 12 km, 16 km and 25 km respectively. But since town center is a traffic-free zone, there would be no access to S2 by cars. By contrast, S1 is laid adjacent to the main road to Hindon, but it is much far away from Cransdon and Bransdon. Both S1 and S2 are close to the railway that links Hindon to Cransdon.
