The line graph compares the recruitment data in different jobs in America during a span of 80 years from 1930 to 2010.
Overall, regardless of some fluctuations, the proportion of Industrial, Technical and Sales & Office employment witnessed an upward trend, while the rate of Farming, Fishing and Foresting workforce saw a downward pattern. Meanwhile, the figure for other services showed the stability till the end of the surveyed period.
In 1930, the statistic of Farming, Fishing and Foresting labour force sat on the highest position of the voting list with roughly 76%. Next came Sales & Office and Other services with nearly the same quantities of employment of 10%, whilst the level of Technical and Industrial recruitment hit the bottom with roughly 2%.
It is striking that in the next 30 years the figure for manual workers experienced a steady fall, decreasing to under 70% in 1960 before registering a plummet, sinking to a new bottom of nearly 2% - the initial level of Technical and Industrial workforce at the end of the span.
In stark contrast, the data of Industrial, Technical and Sales & Office sectors saw new recoveries, exceeding its Farming, Fishing and Foresting counterpart to reach new heights of 38%, 30% and 20% respectively in 2010. Likewise, the proportion of other services employees witnessed a slight rise, increasing to well over 15% in 1940 before falling to 8% in 1960. From then on, the figure for this sector relatively levelled out, hovering around 10% till the end of the investigated period.
