The line graph compares the average emission of carbon dioxide (co2) per person in four countries during a period from1967 to 2007. It is measured in metric tonnes.
To begin in 1967, the level of co2 emission in the UK was 12 memtric tonnes, almost equal to the combination of the rest three conutries. The number declined steadily over the next forty years and reached around 9 by the end of the period, however, it still ranked the most in the graph.
On the contrary, Italy and Portugal showed a growing trend, approximately 4 and 1 repectively in the begining. There was a dramatic rise in italy emission in the first decade and the number outtook Sweden in late 1980s. After reaching its highest point just below 8, Italy levelled off. Portugal had the least emission of carbon dioxide, however, the figure increased stably over the period given and ended at above 5 in 2007.
Different from the others, Sweden`s emission firstly grew from around 9 in 1967 to a peak of above 10 in the following decade. After that, Sweden witnessed a sharp fall until 2007 when it met the same emission with protugal.
Overall, despite the declining of emission, the UK remained the highest level of the four.
