The graph illustrates the average amount of CO2 emissions per person in terms of metric tonnes in four European countries, the UK, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal, throughout the period from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, Portugal produced the least amount of carbon dioxide emission during a period of 40 years, while the United Kingdom ranked as the first place.
Firstly, Sweden and the United Kingdom made less CO2 during this period. The united kingdom gas emission reduced steadily from almost 11 to 9 metric tons, however, it produced more than other countries during these years. Sweden released about 9 tons and witnessed a significant growth during the next 10 years, although plummeted to 5 tons in 2007.
Secondly, Italy and Portugal made more emissions and their total amount increased. italy produced just about 4 tons of carbon dioxide and climbed considerably for 4 tones in 2007. Portugal remained at the fourth placed all the 40 years however rose as much as italy from 1 to 5 tones.
