The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters travelling each day by car bus or train between 1970 and 2030

The given line graph illustrates the number of people travelling by three different types of vehicles (car, bus and train) over a period of 60 years.

It is noticeable that the passengers using car and train to transport have been increasing steadily since 1970. On the contrary, the figures for bus commuters tend to decline gradually throughout the period shown.

Car is the most popular forms of transport as can be seen from the graph. There was a substantial growth by around 2 million people driving to work between 1970 and 2010. Approximately 75 million people will use cars as daily transport by 2020, and this figure is expected to reach 9 million in 2030.

On the other hand, bus and train were used by 4 million and 2 million workers respectively in 1970. While the number of bus users has been experiencing a gradual decrease, the number of commuting rail passengers has been increaseing considerably. The figure of train travellers was above 3.5 million in 2015, at the same level with bus commuters, and will continue to rise to 4.5 million in 2030. By contrast, buses are predicted to become the least popular choices at the end of the period, with only 3 million daily users.
