The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters
traveling each day by car, bus, or train between 1970 and 2030.
The given line chart compares the number of people(in millions) who traveled within the UK using a car, bus, or, train over a period of 60 decades until 2030.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the use of all the vehicles but one increased over time. Also, cars continued to be the most popular commuting mean throughout the period.
According to the given illustration, to begin with, nearly 5 million people used cars that continued over a decade. Thereafter, the number increased significantly before leveling off at 7 million for 10 consecutive years in a row. After which, it observed an upward trend until 2020 and further is expected to rise dramatically, reaching a peak of 9 million by 2030.
Turning to the bus and train figures, followed by a reverse trend, the former, which started at 4 million passengers, compared to only half train commuters, witnessed a substantial dropdown, at nearly 3.3 million by 2020. By contrast, the latter went up prior to reaching a plateau at 3 million by 2010. However, as per the future figures, the train is envisaged to outweigh the bus service by the period end( 5 million as against 3 million passengers).
