Overall, while the percentage of Australia exports to China and India witnessed an upward trend, there was a downward one in the proportion of Australia export to Japan and the US. China had the highest export over a period, followed by other countries.
The number of Australia exports to Japan was the highest in 1990, with about $26 billion. But there was a slight drop to $20 billion in over 5 years. It decreased steadily from 1995 to 2012, with the lowest point was about $27 billion. In contrast, there was only about $3 billion in China’s exports in 1990, but the number of exports increased steadily. The number change dramatically from $4 billion in 1990 to $28 billion in 2012
The US witnessed a slight fluctuation around $10 billion between 1990 and 2000. Then dropped to $5 billion in 2010 and recovered slightly $8 billion at the end of the study. India’s exports began at $1 billion and remain unchanged from 1990 to 2000.
