The graph below shows the percentage of Australian exports to 4 countries from 1990 to 2012
The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian exports to different nations between 1990 and 2012.
Overall, while the percentage of exports to Japan and the US considerably decreased in the 1990-2012 period, the figure of China and India had increasing trends. Besides, it is clear that China significantly contributed to Australian exports in 2012 although the country started from an insignificant figure.
At the starting point in 1990, the figure of Japan was roughly 27%, which was higher than that of the US, at only nearly 12%. After decreases in 1995, the percentage of Australian exports to Japan dropped to approximately 19% in 2012, compared to 7% of the US, a significant difference by 12%.
In contrast, although merely 3% of exporting value of Australia came from China in 1990, the figure of this country suddenly had a sharp increasing trend to precisely 30% in 2012, which was higher than that of the US at the same year. Likewise, the figure of India also had a slight growth from nearly 1% at the starting point to 6% in 2012.
