Overall, the percentage of vegetarian adolescents fluctuates considerably over the period shown.

In 1960, the percentage of adolescents who were vegetarians stood at almost 0%, and then it rose dramatically before peaking at just over 15% in 1980. Since them, it has experienced a steep fall until 1990, when the figure fluctuated and reached its lowest point of roughly 4% thereafter.

Over the following 13 years, following a slight fluctuation, the proportion of adolescent vegetarians witnessed an upwards trend, reaching around 10% by 2010. Between 2011 and 2020, it is anticipated to tail off, at about 9%.
