The illustration shows information about how igloo is built from snow.
The diagram illustrates the instruction of buildings an igloo from the snow.
Overall, there are five main stages in the process, beginning by choosing an area covered by hard-packed snow and finishing by covering the hole with snow blocks. In addition, there is little equipment involved as the whole process is carried out by hand.
First, people use the snow saw to cut hard-packed snow into individual blocks, with the ideal measures are 3, 8 and 15 inches for each dimension, and the long blocks are preferred for the foundation of the igloo. Next, the edges of the blocks are then smoothed before being placed in a circle upward style. At this stage, a hole is dug under the wall to make an entrance, and a slightly oversize block was filled in the last opening on the top of the igloo.
In step 4, loose snow is shoveled onto the igloo and packed into all crevices while the inside surface of the igloo is smoothed by hand. Any extra snow is shoveled out if remaining. Finally, a hole is dug in the shape of the entrance and it then covered with snow blocks do complete the igloo.
