The maps illustrate the changes that have taken place in the village of Stokeford between 1930 and 2010.
Overall, the housing areas were expanded and restructured along the main road, while the lands for agricultural activities vanished.
In 1930, Stokeford consisted of two farmlands in the southwest and the northeast; a post office, a primary school and shops, as well as gardens together with a large house in the southeast. The main road connected these facilities and separated Stokeford into two sides.
By 2010, regarding the accommodation systems, plantation, gardens, and shops had been demolished to make way for new blocks of flats on the eastern and southern banks of the river. More streets were erected in terms of the transport network, branching off the major road to provide access to newly-built houses. Those were also lengthened along the leading road and parallel to the Stock River. Meanwhile, the large house had been broadened and converted into a retirement home. In close proximity to the nursing home, the grade school’s size had doubled throughout the period surveyed. Moreover, the mail depot directly opposite the elementary school remained intact.
