The maps illustrate the alterations in the lakeside from 2000 to 2009. At first glance, it is evident that the most noticeable changes occurred for the size of woodland in between 2000 and 2009.
To begin with the north of the river, there were a new car park, new offices and new university which changed the position of derelict warehouses and old town in 2000. Furthermore, 2000 to 2009 witnessed significant alterations of the residential area, arts centre and old school which had been replaced by shopping centre, multi-screen cinema and new schools respectively. In contrast, residential area, which was in the north side of arts centre, remained unchanged over the whole period.
In accordance with south part of the river, the most considerable alterations occurred for the size of industrial complex and the lake in 2009. Over the following 9 years, the industrial complex had been extended, run to the south part of the lakeside and decreased the woodland area in 2000. Moreover, the size of the lake in 2000 had changed and turned into a slight lake in 2009.
