The percentage of female members or parliaments in European countries 2000 2012

Essay topics:

The percentage of female members or parliaments in European countries (2000-2012).

The line graph compares the engagement of women in five European parliaments in percentage terms over a twelve-year period from 2000 to 2012
It is clear that the proportions of every nation expressed similarities in terms of the upward patterns with the exception of Belgium over the period. In addition, the United Kingdom’s figure overall remained lowest in every given year.
In 2000, the percentage of female representation in German was highest at 30% , followed by 27% of Italy and 25% of France. This growing pattern was set to continue until 2008 in which the reverse change could be seen in Italy’s figure, significantly climbing to 40% after having surpassed Germany’s between 2008 and 2012, which slightly increased to 36% in 2012. Despite notable changes in the two nations, France still came to third in comparison with Germany and Italy each year with the proportion eventually gradually growing by 7% from 2000 at the end of the time phase.

When it comes to women representation in parliaments in other nations, in 2000, the proportion of Belgium was above 15%, four times higher than that of the United Kingdom. Nonetheless, while the figure for Belgium nearly stagnated around 23% and 24% and finally dropped by 1.5% in 2012, women represented more in the UK parliaments as shown at the sextuple in the percentage, making the equivalence of 21.5% with Belgium’s.
