Essay topics:

The pie charts and table gives information about the total value and sources of fish imported to the US between 1988 and 2000.

The pie charts depict the countries that exported fish to the United States from 1988 to 2000, whereas the table elucidates the aggregate amount of money spent on importing fish during the aforementioned time period.

As per the charts, in 1988, fish from Canada were mainly shipped to the US. However, from this point onward, other countries started to export more fish to America. In addition, it was also the year 2000 that fish importation witnessed the highest value throughout the time period.

In 1988, fish imported from Canada nearly triplicated that of other countries, whereas Chinese exported fish had just crossed the 10% mark. During this time, the fish value was also the lowest at 6.5 billion dollars.

The trend is different as seen in the next four years when the US started to buy more fish from other countries and China. As a result, the share of Canada declined, and that of China increase by 34% and 20%, respectively. In 2000, both fish from Canada and other countries were imported less with each decrease somewhere in the vicinity of 5%. On the contrary, China continued to grow in the number of fish exported.
