The charts give information about different regions of the world that produced and consumed coffee and how its profit is distributed.
Overall, the majority of coffee is produced in South America, whereas Europe is considered the dominant consumer. It is also clear that a large proportion of profits gained by selling coffee go to shippers.
Nearly half of the total coffee is produced in South America as opposed to only 2% in Oceania. The percentages of the Central America, Asia and Oceania is just under 20%.
Regarding the consumption of coffee, 55% of coffee is sold to Europe while the other regions consume around a third of the total (27%). In comparison, there is 11% of coffee consumed in North America, which is higher than the figure for Japan, at 7%.
Shippers receive most of the profit from selling this type of product, at 55% compared to that of sellers, at 25%. Both explorers and producers earn an equal percentage of profits, at 10%.
