The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
The pie charts describe units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France from 1980 to 2000. Overall, it is clear that the number of total electricity production in both countries showed an upward trend during the twenty years, from 100 units to 170 units in Australia and from 90 units to 180 units in France.
Starting with Australia, coal produced the largest amount of electricity in 1980, at 50 units. Then its production rose dramatically to 130 units in 2000, which was still at the highest position. Meanwhile, the same trend can be seen in hydro power, from 20 units to 36 units. However, the production of electricity by natural gas and oil declined to the lowest position (2 units) in 2000.
Turning now to France, the amount of electricity created by nuclear power increased significantly to the highest point (126 units) in 2000 from 15 units in 1980. At the same time, a slight rise can also be seen in oil from 20 units to 25 units. By contrast, the two decades witnessed a decrease in natural gas(25—2 units) and hydro power(5—2 units). The electricity production by coal remained stable in the meantime.
