Recently, we have witnessed new debated erupted among the proponents on the influence and the effects of the law on human behavior and society as a whole. Many are of the view that law has a profound impact on human behavior, whereas, others have opposite view stating that other aspects like social and cultural norms of the society has paramount effects on human behavior rather than law. According to me, to some extent law changes human behavior and plays a significant role in the cognitive and holistic development of human behavior and society.
To begin with, the fear of severe punishment forces people to follow the rules and regulations imposed by the legislation in the forms of law. It is in the behavior of law-abiding citizen to practice law in order to make their country a better place to live. For instance, by fearing harsh punishment and heavy fine, we all observed traffic rules formed by government agencies, that force us to fasten seat belts, drive at specific speed limits and following various traffic signals. Just imagine chaos caused by people, if they do not follow any government laws and behave as per their wish or thinking.
On the other hand, the law has a partial influence on human behavior as the majority of critical habits are developed in the grown-up years of children. They learn a great deal of discipline and cultural and social fabric in school and by observing the behavior of their parents and surroundings. For example, I learn great importance of social justice and discipline from my grandfather during my childhood days. it's his thought which has planted a seed of behavior during my early days.
In conclusion, from the above examples it is evident that for the holistic and cognitive of the human, society, and nature, law plays a significant role along with the right blend of social environment and settings.
