Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant
The table illustrates the detailed information about the number of native speakers in several languages and people who consider these as their additional knowledge.
At first glance, while Mandarin Chinese ranks first in the figure for the native speakers and the total speakers, most people tend to seem English as their option. In addition, there is the smallest number of speakers who believe that Portuguese is not dispensable.
On average, although there is exactly 900 million Mandarin Chinese native speakers of 1090 million in total, only 190 million people seeming this as an additional language. Next comes English, which accounts for 942 speakers. Nevertheless, the number of speakers who tend to think English like an optional language is approximately 6-fold as large as that of Mandarin Chinese. Besides, the lowest figure for all kinds of speakers goes to Portuguese, at 203 million native ones, only 10 million people as an additional language of 213 million people.
It is noticeable that the numbers of native speakers are always larger than that of people as an optional language, except English. To be more precise, Arabic has more native speakers than ones as an additional language, at 182 million people. Also, there are 250 million and 280 million speakers of disparities between the Hindi and Spanish native speakers and ones as options respectively. Conversely, the number of speakers of English as an option is around twice as large as that of native ones.
