The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant

A glance at the table provided illustrates the differences in the age, size, and passengers per year of underground railway system in six cities.

It is such a clear-cut evidence from the provided information that the first three metro systems opened sooner have bigger size of route and larger number of annual passengers than the others.

To begin with, it can be seen clearly that London, Paris, and Tokyo have older subway system, which was opened in 1863, 1900, and 1927 respectively. In particular, the age of these systems is directly proportional to the kilometres of route, standing at 394 kilometres in London, 199 kilometres in Paris, and 155 kilometres in Tokyo. The striking feature is that although London metro system opened earlier and has longer route, its passengers every year is fewer than nearly one-half of metro system in Paris and Tokyo (775 millions passengers per year).

Coming to the rest of the table, Washington DC subway system was released sooner than the others (in 1976). As a result, it has the longest route and the largest number of annual passengers, accounting for 126 kilometres and 144 million passengers. After 5 years, Kyoto also opened its metro system. Nevertheless, its size of system and number of passengers served per year are the lowest with only 11 kilometres and 45 million passengers. Ranking second in the underground railway system group is Los Angeles that was released in 2001 with 28 kilometres of route and serves 50 milliom passengers every year.
