Essay topics:

The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.

The provided table illustrates how people of five countries (Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and turkey) spent their money on 3 different categories (food/drinks/tobacco, clothing/footwear, and leisure/education) in the year 2002. Overall, the majority of expenditure went to food, drinks, and tobacco, whereas leisure and education accounted for the smallest portion.

According to the chart, in terms of food/drinks/tobacco, 32.14% of the expenditure was made by Turkey citizens, twice as much as those from Sweden and higher than those from Ireland by approximately 2%. Meanwhile, Spain consumers accounted for 18.80% of the national consumption of food, drinks, and tobacco, around 2% higher than the figure for Italy.

It can also be seen that while Italians spent the most on clothing and footwear out of the citizens of the five countries, accounting for 9% of national expenditure, a similar figure of around 6% could be seen in the clothing and footwear consumption by consumers living in Ireland, Spain and turkey. In comparison, leisure and education expenditure by people of the 5 nations clustered between 1.98% and 4.35%, placing this category in the 3rd rank.
