The table illustrates the number of cars five brands selling in world market over the period of 2012 to 2016.
While sales of Roll-Royce were constantly experiencing a sharp dip from 15,100 in 2012 to 5,400 in 2016, the underlying trend was increasing in the others except for Toyota, which stayed relatively unchanged with an 800 drop to 14,000 in 2013, followed by a rise of 500 with no change three years on.
The situation was more erratic at sales of Mercedes and Ford. After a 4.100 drop to 11,700 in 2013, sales of Mercedes steadily increased three years on, crawling to 18,500 in 2016. Similarly, sales of Ford reduced 2000 items in each subsequent year until 2014, after which it leapt to 22,600 in 2015 and stood at 26,100 in 2016.
By contrast, Kia fared much better. The trend was accelerating with only 18,500 items in 2012, climbing to 23,700 a year later. By 2014, the figure had increased to 27,300. Following a slight rise to 29,600 in 2015, sales of Kia reached 32,500, the highest of the five brands.
From the data, it is immediately obvious that Kia dominated sales of cars by 2016.
