The tables below illustrate the money earned by selling coffee and bananas of Fairtrade branch in five countries of Europe. Those information was surveyed in 1999 and 2004.
Overall, although the gains of bananas sales in Denmark and Sweden seen a noticeable drop, in almost mentioned countries, sales of fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas shew the positive trend obviously after the period of 5 years starting from 1999.
Looking at the details, the increase in profit earned of coffee trading in Switzerland was very noteworthy (rose from 3 millions of euros to 6 millions of euros). The second and third most considerable numbers of Fairtrade company were the gains of UK and Denmark on selling coffee, which reached 1.5 and 1.8 millions euros respectively in 1999. However, after 5 year, those profits in UK were nearly twenty times more than it used to while in Denmark the sales of this product have just grown slightly to 2 millions of euros.
The bananas trade in Switzerland, in comparison , were much more flourishing than coffee selling. It gained 15 millions of euros in 1999 and then nearly tripled to 47 millions in 2004. Furthermore, the bananas sales in Belgium and the UK were also remarkable, which increased form 0.6 millions euros to 4 millions and 1 millions euros to 5.5 millions respectively (through the surveyed period). By contrast, the money earned from bananas in Denmark and Sweden of Fairtrade label was falling marginally from 1999 to 2004 (decreased 0.1 millions and 0.8 millions euros respectively).
