The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.
The pie charts describe how a particular UK school spent money every year in the three years of 1981, 1991, and 2001. Overall, it is clear that the expenditure on insurance, teachers’ salaries and equipment showed an increase during the twenty years, while that on other workers’ salaries and resources such as books a decline.
Starting with teachers’ salaries, a significant rise can be seen from 40% in 1981 to 45% in 2001, with a peak at 50% in 1991. Meanwhile, an increase was in furniture and equipment from 15% to 23%, despite a great dip at 5% in 1991. The two decades also witnessed a growth in insurance, from 2% to 8%. Although the percentage of teachers’ salaries was always far larger than that of insurance, the latter presented a greater growth rate.
Turning now to other workers’ salaries, however, the spending experienced a downward trend over the period of 20 years, from 28% to 15%. At the same time, the percentage of resources such as books also decreased from 15% to 9%, in spite of a rise to 20% in 1991.
