We were given two diagrams showing Darwin city waterfront in 2009 and after the 2014 reconstruction. We had to compare and describe both of them.
The maps illustrate the transformation of a waterfront in Darwin city between 2009 and 2014.
One of the most noticeable changes can be pointed out in the industrial area. To be more specific, the southern part of the vast grassland witnessed the appearance of a considerable number of trees, while a university unit was constructed at the northern end. Moreover, an alternative path for walking has been established as a feature of the industrial area. Besides, the result of the construction work situated a harbor in an area offshore.
In terms of subtle alternation, it is visually evident that the area surrounded by a footpath also noticed an addition of a small swimming pool next to the lake, where an insignificant piece of the industrial section was sited. Finally, the residential units just to the right of the university have been extended to meet the demand of the population.
Overall, the reconstruction of the Darwin city waterfront featured many elements, most of which were installed to promote more conveniences and facilities for local inhabitants.
